Andreu graduated in Chemistry from the University of Valencia in 2015, when he moved to Tarragona to work under the supervision of Professor Rubén Martín in the development of Nickel-catalysed carboxylation and amidation reactions, including the implementation of isotope-labelling techniques.
In July 2021, he joined the group of Professor Eva Hevia at the University of Bern to work on cooperative bimetallic chemistry, with a focus on their catalytic applications. In 2024 he was awarded an Ambizione Project to become a Research Associate SNSF at the University of Fribourg starting January 2025.
His research interests span the development of new catalysts based on transition metals, mechanistic investigations, and the design of new synthetic protocols — with the primary aim of developing efficient, robust, and sustainable methodologies for synthesis, while unraveling the mechanistic complexities involved. Outside the lab, he enjoys singing in the University Choir and practising Step aerobics.
